Ron Evans (1950 - 2009)

The volunteers are the lifeblood of TurtleCare Sunshine Coast. They spend many hours patrolling beaches looking for tracks and protecting nests. For volunteers and other beach goers Ron Evans was a familiar sight for many years at Currimundi and Dicky Beach. He was always the first to find tracks and the first one to offer to monitor an emerging nest until other volunteers could get there.

Sadly, Ron passed away suddenly in August 2009. His contribution to turtle conservation on the Coast will be sadly missed and he leaves a gap in Sunshine Coast TurtleCare that will be very difficult to fill.
